I would download the magic glass (magnifying glass example) from Harvey Almarode's web page at http://www.harveyshomepage.com/Harveys_Homepage/Utilities.html  You can create and make your own.  Basic directions:

    1. Create a circle with a handle.

    2. Group the objects

    3. Send the magnifying glass to the back layer.  Now when it goes over words written in the same color as the background, it will show.

There are 3 magnifying glasses in the new updated Gallery Sampler. Check under People and Cultures and there are 2 magnifying glasses in the pictures collection. There is also a magnifying glass found under Everyday Things/Miscellaneous. The easiest way to find what you're looking for in the Gallery is to do a search - select the Gallery tab, find the search box (should be at the top of the panel unless you have moved it to the bottom), type in key word(s) and select the magnifying glass icon to search. Use any of the magnifying glasses in the gallery to create the activity as ohostetter described. Good luck!

Note:  One of the magnifying glasses in the gallery is transparent, the other is white.  If youuse the transparent glass, then you could create a circle of any color and group it with the transparent--so now you could have a yellow, green or blue glass on your magnifying glass!

Search the forums for magnifying glass.  THere are plenty of tutorials and videos out there.

Hint:  background needs to be same color as the "hidden text."  Also, the glass is the middle layer of a sandwich--the background and "hidden text" are the bread.  So make sure you put the magnifying glass down before you put down the "hidden text" or use the drop down to change the order.

Jim Hollis has a great example of a flashlight that works the same way on his website "Teachers Love Smart Boards."
