Hey there, lets start a post where people can explain a cool idea they use notebook to do so that we can share all these ideas with others.

 Here's one to get you started:

 Use layers and color in notebook to make a neat reveal idea. If you group some text with an image and make the text the same color as the background. When you drag the image over an object that is set to the back and a different color the text magically appears. Watch the video to see it in action.

Make sure you right click on your colored object and choose order/send to back

Thanks for sharing your tricks-the videos are very helpful! Someone shared a neat trick with me-- using the eraser to make a picture ortext appear.

You choose the text or picture you want in your Notebook and then take the pen tool (easier if you have it set on the thickest line) and cover the text or picture with the pen.  Next you make sure the color of the pen is the same as the background, so it hides the picture or text. Then whenyou take the eraser and erase in that area the text or picture appears like magic!! It really is cool!  Hope I explained it ok so folks can try it!

If I can't find an object/item I want to use in a lesson in the Gallery - I find one online - (free clipart) - drag and drop it into my Notebook lesson. If there is a box or color around it that I don't want to show up on my screen, I use picture transparency in the drop down dialogue box. After I choose picture transparency tool, Ijust click on the parts I want to be transparent on my page. My object or item shows up without the colors around the outside,or a white box around it. This works especially well when I am using a different colored background. I used to try to do a freehand screen capture, but had a difficult time using it with more intricate shapes (flowers, insects, etc.). I can then infinite clone the item for use in math activities, or other subject lessons. I use this with a Mac, and really like this feature. Barb

In addition to barb's set picture transparency tip, if you ever drag an image in and don't see this option it is because the image is not of the correct format to do this. A way round this is to use the marquee screen capture tool to take a picture of it:

1. Drag into notebook
2. Load the screen capture toolbar from the shortcut menu
3. Choose the first screen capture option, the marquee select where you draw a rectangle
4. Take a capture of the image
5. Now you will see the set picture transparency option.
